Gawd, I’m tired just looking at that blog total! No idea how I do it. This figure, of course, doesn’t count the posts about writing I create for this blog…so you can add another 8-10 posts a month there. To sum up, I’m a blogging fool these days!
Luckily, if you use our free 10 minute guide to start your blog today, you’ll get our epic Pro Blogging eBook for free. We didn’t have a resource like this when we started blogging, but if we did I think we could have earned more money a lot sooner. Check it out and see what you think.
Thank you for sharing such a great post! I am new to blogging and I keep on searching for website like this. One of the hardship I encountered is content for my blog I am not very good at writing so I am planning to hire someone who could provide a very good content. Do you have any recommendation where to hire for someone who could write an article for me?
Thank you so much for sharing these with your community. It’s awesome to see realistic numbers and it’s so inspiring. I just read Building a Framework and started my first blog. It’s so fun to imagine where my blog might go and get inspired by you two! Thanks 🙂
Thank you so much for this! I definitely took some notes! Sometimes I feel like its all just a pipe dream to make that kind of money from blogging! But I’m committed and anything worth doing is worth doing well! Thank you for the inspiration!
Man 100k per month from just a single blog is absolutely Awesome. You are really an All-In-One Internet guider. I am starting out with my new blog, we are at setup stage, we are preparing free courses for email optins.
Hi Misha! Youre welcome! The list is very inspiring and just shows you what kind of potential is out there. Pinch of Yum, #3 on the list is also a food blogger like yours and she is making insane amounts of money from food blogging. You should pay attention to how she does it. I want my girl friend to start a food blog too but she just doesnt have the time to do it right now. It is very time consuming once you really take the initiative to try and make an awesome blog.
Yes, this isn’t that moonshot way of earning that so many are dreaming of, where you monetize your own blog and make six figures on autopilot. This is an everyday, working-class sort of way to earn from blogging. Simply helping publications and companies communicate powerfully with their readers and customers.
Once a month we publish the income earned from JustAGirlandHerBlog.com. It gives us a chance to reflect on the month– what went well and what didn’t go so well. We hope you follow along on our journey of turning our blog into a business!
Within the whole making-money-online realm, it really feels like the Wild West. It’s never been easier in history to make more money, so it’s a ton of fun to test and share new money-making strategies. It’s also never been easier to launch a business and build an audience and network to get your message out. But I’m still learning just like everyone else. That’s what makes it so fun. Making money online feels a lot like playing a potentially really profitable game. Here’s what I’ve learned: I think a lot of people have the formula completely backward since they focus wayyyyy too much on social media or tweaking every SEO dial without first creating quality authentic content. Here’s the formula that seems to be working best for me:
Always blown away by your posts and funnel, but I can’t help but think that there is an easier way. Basically, take everything you reccomend, then only do what is absolutely nessicary for that tactic to work.
I think the domain name also matters as what I think is that shorter the domain name more the traffic is on the website and also the topic of your blog is important and google also preffers topics like blogging, tv shows etc.
Making money blogging can take a lot of persistence, but it can pay off in the long-run if youre starting out from scratch. Just remember that you dont have to use all of these money-making avenues at once. Consider what other people in your industry are doing, and start from there.
For instance, we have a guest blogging course that retails for $497. In exchange, we promise to help students get featured on a big blog or magazine like The Huffington Post or Forbes. I think it’s fair to say that exposure is worth $5,000 to the right person. So, the product sells easily and well.
We love helping new companies and up-and-coming destinations promote themselves. We enjoy connecting with our readers and bringing travel into our working life. It’s truly the ultimate job, and now that you know that you can earn as much as $30,000 / month from it… what are you waiting for?! Learn how to start a travel blog today.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve recently started my own blog and I’ve really enjoyed learning the ins and outs of blogging from reading how others started out. Right now I’m just trying to build up my content and make my page visually appealing, but hopefully I can try to implement some of these methods later down the road!
As a result of its increasing complexity, the affiliate marketing world has evolved to include a subset of players which includes specialized third party vendors, affiliate management agencies, and super-affiliates.
Hi Jamie, the article is very helpful. I have a question though…I searched several niches on Google Trends. they all show between 75 to 100 searches. That makes it difficult for me to choose. I blog about many things within the lifestyle category. Do I really need to pick a niche? My goal is to be a social media influencer. I’m a practising artist though.
Create a digital business that can be promoted through your blog. For example, many of my graphic design clients are people who have found me through my blog. Other ideas are to create an Etsy shop or be a social media guru.
Affiliate marketing is one of my favorite and most profitable income streams. You can highlight products or services you use and love without having to do the work of creating or maintaining that product yourself. I talk about affiliate marketing in much more depth in What is Affiliate Marketing? and My Top Affiliate Marketing Tips.
As your blog grows, you may want to change the look of your site and add more features for your growing audience. That means it’s important to choose a blogging platform that’s flexible, with room to grow.
If you’re using your existing WordPress blog to sell plugins, you’ll want to make sure that the plugin you create directly fulfills a need of your audience. You can survey them to see what problems they need to solve on their WordPress site, and then create a plugin that solves that problem.
Also, in Building the Framework, the mid-range course comes with 20 videos. I do not use WordPress, and so would like to know if those videos are focused on WP setups and themes? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
One downside of dropshipping is that you have to find a good supplier, which can be a challenge, and sometimes you have to place a large order up front. This can make it difficult to get started without investing a lot of money.

Above we mentioned the difference between CPC and CPM ads, where you are paid per click or per thousand views. While you could use one of those models for selling banner ads, most bloggers charge a flat rate instead. Charging a flat rate is easier than keeping track of views or clicks.
I get a ton of sponsored content and direct advertising requests, but most of them are super random or for crappy products. I say no 99% of the time, but occasionally a brand will reach out with a cool new product or idea that can actually help you save money or make more money, so then it’s a win-win. I’ve sold a few sponsored posts (less than 5 in 2017) and will keep selling them when they make sense. There are also other brands that reach out and want to buy a display ad placement on the website. If it the brand aligns and the price is right, then I’ll sell the placement.
I have recently learned the value of outsourcing work to specialists. I used to endure sleepless nights trying to keep up with all the work necessary for building a blog. The right specialists are dramatically cheaper at tasks than I could ever hope to be as measured by the cost of my time and the amount of distractions that I created for myself.
I make money on blogging via adsense and affiliate schemes. I’ve had a blog for almost a year now and still its earning! It’s important to choose the right niche. I update the content everyday, which helps generate long tail keyword traffic from Google.
As you can see from the results there are a variety of different websites here from blogs, to eCommerce sites, to forums. Google also shows there are over 14.7 million websites that mention “everyday carry”.
As a new(ish) blogger, it’s a little intimidating to see such a great post, yet realize it kinda goes against SO much you’ve learned thus far. At this point, I seriously feel like a deer in the headlights. But I have a question…
This is a really interesting post Jon. What you’ve listed here are the “tools of the trade” so to speak. Every type of business has a list of things specific to that business that must happen in order for their to be income produced. If that list isn’t followed, then you have a hobby, not a business.
You will also need to decide whether you want to offer personalized support for your course. Some sites offer two tiers of each course: a basic version without support, and a premium version with email support.
Personally, I think that the most lucrative way to earn money from your blog is to use your blog as a marketing tool and stepping stone, rather than the whole shebang. Branching out also helps you to grow your blog in general, because it increases your presence around the web (and the world). So, what do I mean by “branching out”? Here are some examples of how you could use your blog to gain income and create more followers:
Thank you for sharing this income report. I am excited for you, and am hopeful I will be posting a first income report soon too. I appreciate the breakdown of how you received your $56.83 (are you going to frame your first dollar? :-)).
If all this affiliate marketing stuff sound like rocket science to you then I’d suggest you take advantage of some training on how to set up your own passive income generating online affiliate business.
I started publishing my reports here – just recapped 2015 and plan to make monthly reports going forward. https://www.earnmoneyblogging.net/affiliate-marketing-income-reports-amazon-affiliate-earnings-for-2015-graphic/
Jon Morrow is the gold standard in this arena, and this post encapsulates that. He consulted with me at the launch of my blog, and these 20 principles feel like evolutions of that great advice. My numbers are nowhere near his (frankly, my subscriber list seems fixed lately), but my experience validates the core of what’s here: it’s all about consulting, leading to products (in my case, a bit of the other way around, via a book that arose from my website/blog). If you can afford Jon (I can’t), go for it… provided you truly are an “expert” in a given field, one that other people will pay to listen to. If you can’t, or aren’t (at least yet), just read everything he’s written, here and elsewhere.
In total, it took me about eight years to get here, but in exchange for investing those eight years, I now have enough money to support me until the day I die. Also, every day I get emails from people telling me how I changed their lives for the better.
