Part of the San Francisco-based social media company’s marketing developers program, they include 4C, Adaptly, Ampush, Brand Networks, HYFN, Kinetic Social, SocialFlow and SocialCode. These vendors will build services that make it easier to plan paid and free posts on Pinterest.
If you aren’t already following @marketingland and @sengineland, you can stop calling yourself a digital marketer. As a founder of these massive (more than half a million Twitter followers) sites, Sullivan can be found Tweeting his favorite articles, live-tweeting major media events like VidCon, and humorously bashing Google. If you somehow don’t love a good Google rant, Sullivan still provides massive value, only sharing what he finds important in media news. Something tells us, he’s got a knack for that type of thing.
For example; one thing that many people don’t know is that if you ask for a connection from someone that doesn’t know who you are and they decide to tell LinkedIn that they don’t know you, it counts negatively towards your profile. If enough of them say that they don’t know you, your LinkedIn will get restricted and depending on the situation, even banned.
“The ads API brings a lot more scale. Whereas now brands are doing Promoted Pins here and there, they will be able to promote all over with targeting and no minimum spending limits,” said a digital executive, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “The amount of money Pinterest will start making will be unreal.”
10. SocialOomph. In our opinion, Social Oomph is one of the best Twitter applications for managing accounts on Twitter and Facebook at the same time. You’ll have to upgrade to premium if you want to access this multitasking feature (at a bi-weekly cost of $17.97), but for many users, the time saved is well worth the money spent.
Ebook content should follow some sort of narrative structure, and include a lot of good, visual design. The goal of an ebook is to educate (rather than entertain), but make sure to keep the language conversational if that is consistent with your brand and personas.
Gunnard Johnson, Head of Measurement Science and Insights says, “Third-party partners are an important part of our commitment to rigorous, high-quality measurement. We’re excited to announce new measurement partners that will help advertisers see the value of Pinner intent and Pinterest’s unique content.”
There is an answer to this buyer-driven environment: Content. Content marketing is the process of creating high-quality, valuable content to attract, inform, and engage an audience, while also promoting the brand itself. Buyers and consumers are already searching the web for answers that your brand is uniquely positioned to offer. It’s benefits are three-fold:
LinkedIn groups can be very spammy and some can just be like a traffic-less ghost town. That’s because too many group members just leave their links in there and go. What i prefer doing is syndicaticating my posts on LinkedIn and then sharing those syndicated posts in LinkedIn groups. These syndicated posts receive a lot more traction in the groups than external links and you also gain engagement in LinkedIn Pulse.
In 1900, Michelin developed the Michelin Guide, offering drivers information on auto maintenance, accommodations, and other travel tips. 35,000 copies were distributed for free in this first edition.[12]
Oftentimes, marketers can sound a bit like a BuzzFeed-inspired broken record:  5 tips to crush [insects], the beginner’s guide to [potatoes], How [bacon] grew to over 1 trillion social media followers (we’re guilty of this, too). @jchernov combines insightful content with some authentic crass and wit, making his feed quite enjoyable.
The supply chain of digital content marketing mainly consists of commercial stakeholders and end-user stakeholders which represent content providers and distributors and customers separately.[42] In this process, distributors manage the interface between the publisher and the consumer, then distributors could identify the content that consumers need through external channels and implement marketing strategies. For instance, Library and document supply agencies as intermediaries can deliver the digital content of e-books, and e-journal articles to the users according to their search results through the electronic channels. Another example is when consumers pay for the acquisition of some MP3 downloads, search engines can be used to identify different music providers and smart agents can be used by consumers to search for multiple music provider sites. In a word, the digital content marketing process needs to be conducted at the business level and service experience level because when consumers are accessing digital content, their own experience depends on the complex network of relationships in the content marketing channels such as websites and videos. The consumers interact directly with distributors in the big supply chain through various digital products which have an important role in meeting the requirements of the consumers. The design and user experience of these channels directly decides the success of digital content marketing.[32]
It certainly paves the way for more advertising, which has been an ongoing project at the company trying to compete with Google, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Pinterest recently launched Buyable Pins for retailers to post products that can be bought right from the platform. It also released a new animated ad format, Cinematic Pins.
Not all brands rely on offering high profile prizes to help drive Twitter engagement. Taco Bell has adopted a very different approach by focusing much of their effort on engaging with some of their most influential followers. By diving into conversations with users who have over 10,000 followers, they’re able to maximise their brand awareness through mentions, retweets and recommendations.
If you’re getting a little hot and bothered by the massive followings these marketing professionals have accrued, don’t fret. They all started at 0 followers like the rest of us. It is important to note that the majority of this list have been on the Twitter bandwagon since 2007, when about.me and yammer were still competitors.
Multi-level marketing (simplified Chinese: 传销; traditional Chinese: 傳銷; pinyin: chuán xiāo) was first introduced to China by American, Taiwanese, and Japanese companies following the Chinese economic reform of 1978. This rise in multi-level marketing’s popularity coincided with economic uncertainty and a new shift towards individual consumerism. Multi-level marketing was banned on the mainland by the government in 1998, citing social, economic, and taxation issues.[57] Further regulation “Prohibition of Chuanxiao” (where MLM is a type of Chuanxiao, Chinese name of the regulation is 《禁止传销条例》 ), was enacted in 2005, clause 3 of Chapter 2 of the regulation states having downlines is illegal (original text from the regulation ‘组织者或者经营者通过发展人员,要求被发展人员发展其他人员加入,形成上下线关系,并以下线的销售业绩为依据计算和给付上线报酬,牟取非法利益的。’).[16] O’Regan wrote ‘With this regulation China makes clear that while Direct Sales is permitted in the mainland, Multi-Level Marketing is not’.[15]
Louis Vuitton’s Twitter marketing strategy is one-way, no engagement, with its focus on pushing its products. It only retweeted 5 times in 2016, all from its other Twitter accounts. Yet it has nearly 6m followers, who retweeted the brand’s tweets over 378K times. It’s not a strategy that would work for all brands, but it works for luxury brands that users aspire to.
Another technique involves the use of ‘shout-outs’. An unpaid shout-out is when you partner with another brand that has roughly the same number of followers as you to promote each other to your audiences and you both benefit from increased exposure.
Richard Branson shares his thoughts, ideas, politics, charities, jokes, book recommendations, family stories; his products and services are almost an afterthought. He has over 9 million followers but tweets as if it’s just to YOU.
Also create a clear and compelling pitch in your company description. This is where you will grab attention of our targeted audience. First 2 lines of decsription should be clear and concise to explain your business because you have less time to capture user mind. Also joining some business related groups can help you to reach out your targeted audience. One more important thing to do in Linkedin is posting great content related to your business and share it with your Linkedin connection. This is amazing way to build trust among your connections.

The Times: “The Government investigation claims to have revealed that just 10% of Amway’s agents in Britain make any profit, with less than one in ten selling a single item of the group’s products.”[32]
The entire thing was weird and hilarious. It was also a great example of a brand hopping on a popular hashtag (in this case, #TheSoundofMusicLive) to chime in on the already-popular conversation. In the two hours of live-tweeting, the company tweeted 38 times, garnered over 44 million social impressions for that week, and picked up over 4,000 new followers.

It’s this approach to Twitter that makes them stand out from the crowd — and it certainly works for their audience. Their head of digital and communities Joe McEwan says that people really connect with their brand because they talk like human beings, without jargon or “technical mumbo jumbo.”
For Lotusphere 2011, one of IBM’s annual user conferences for customers and partners, the tech firm expanded its typical social media strategy and created a social media hub, a single online landing page providing a live stream of blogs, Twitter comments, Flickr photos and videos of keynote sessions and interviews from the conference. To keep chatter organized on Twitter, the company employed the hashtag #ls11.
You probably know that “list’ articles work well. This is especially true when posting half the article on LinkedIn. Craft an article such as, “10 Ways to Improve Your Online Reputation” and post the first 3-5 there on LinkedIn and the full article on your own site.
There are plenty of opportunities to impress your profile viewers. Shoot for close to 100% completeness and then optimize your profile over time, adding new skills, achievements, and examples of your stellar work.
The paid shout-out is for those with a bigger budget as it’s essentially an influencer campaign. This usually involves paying a brand (or influencer) with a much larger following to promote your product or service. It’s a great way to gain a large number of new followers quickly, providing that you create a strong call to action and the influencer’s audience is genuine.
The overwhelming majority of MLM participants (most sources estimated to be over 99.25% of all MLM participants) participate at either an insignificant or nil net profit.[10] Indeed, the largest proportion of participants must operate at a net loss (after expenses are deducted) so that the few individuals in the uppermost level of the MLM pyramid can derive their significant earnings—earnings which are then emphasized by the MLM company to all other participants to encourage their continued participation at a continuing financial loss.
While we definitely didn’t have room to include the all of the marketing folks and entities we greatly respect, we figured this’d be an optimal list to get you going. Here are several of the best marketing-related Twitter accounts out there today.
Especially if your company is B2B, be sure to have a company profile on LinkedIn, and encourage all employees to have personal profiles that link them to your company. Each person has talents and skills they contribute to your business that can be highlighted with your company’s keywords in each employee’s summary and experience areas. LinkedIn Recommendations can also increase your company’s visibility in the channel. Ask employees to join groups where they can share their insights and answer questions… and train them to always include a personalized note when reaching out to others, and best if that note offers your reason for connecting.
What if your customers looked forward to receiving your marketing? What if when they received it, via print, email, website, they spent 15, 30, 45 minutes with it? What if they anticipated it and shared it with their peers?
We’re not interested in selling you business opportunity leads once or twice—we want to be your business-building partner for life and we’ll prove it to you. To sum it up, your success is our business.
Have you ever heard your clients say: “Thanks for posting that latest picture of your kid eating two pancakes at once with the face covered in strawberry jam on LinkedIn. It was that exact picture that made me realize that your services are a perfect fit for my business”?
For World Refugee Day this year, USA for UNHCR held a “tweetathon” as part of its overall Blue Key Campaign, which asks Americans to purchase a symbolic $5 Blue Key pin or pendant to show their support for refugees worldwide and the 6,000 UNHCR staffers who work 24/7 to assist them.
As an entrepreneur, keynote speaker, instructor, angel investor and adjunct professor, Peter Shankman is extremely knowledgeable on all things marketing, from startups to enterprice and everything in between.
1/10 people who read this post won’t scroll this far, so we figure some self-promo will only put 1/10 of you on our bad side. (That’s the right math, right??). We think great content is a team sport. That’s why we let the whole team share their insights, knowledge, and occasional rants about digital advertising. It makes for some great stuff, trust me.
“For maximum success, Twitter can’t stand alone. Beyond tweeting, our team dropped blog posts about the campaign, alerted our Facebook base, sent out an email to our customer, issued a press release and conducted traditional media outreach. We also worked with BlogHer to tap into their extensive network of influential women and mom bloggers. If marketers do their homework and recognize that Twitter campaigns must go hand-in-hand with other efforts, they will increase their overall success. In our case, once the Go Granny tweetcapades started, there was no stopping them.”
Hey Lewis, I love the whole “sexy back” theme here. I have been making an effort lately to make my profile more sexy. Perfect timing to have found your post! Great information on your blog. I really enjoy your style of writing! You have a new reader 🙂
In addition to tweeting out fun content, they’re constantly using Twitter to ask their followers to answer questions, respond to folks who tweet at them, and jump in on trending hashtags — like the #DontWorryBoutAThingCuz hashtag below.
Pinterest has selected 10 partners — Ahalogy, Buffer, Curalate, Expion, Newscred, Percolate, Shoutlet, Spredfast, Sprinklr and Tailwind — to launch the program, giving them access to the company’s content publishing API. Some — including Pinterest specialist Tailwind — already had beta access to the API but all now are offering their customers tools to manage Pinterest along with other networks.
Called Marketing Developer Partners, this is Pinterest’s first official program to give API access to companies offering social media management platforms to brands and businesses. Facebook and Twitter both have similar programs to help coordinate third-party integration, which makes this a natural move for Pinterest as it continues make a case to be a serious alternative for marketers’ dollars.
Reusing content assets that have yielded good results is a powerful way to expand your content library and to promote the same content across different media channels and in different content formats. After all, what one person would enjoy as a stunning infographic, another would prefer as an expert advice e-book.
You can embed LinkedIn SlideShare presentations directly into your Company Page updates. These presentations can be simply slides, but can also include video, and can be used for unconventional formats like tall infographics. Use these tips to make a SlideShare that gets noticed:
Luke helps brands to use social and digital media more effectively. With over 16 years of hands-on experience, his client list includes Burger King, VISA, British Airways and The Daily Telegraph. He is the founder of Our Social Times and Managing Director of OST Marketing, the award-winning agency.
Sticking with the car theme, in 2013 Mercedes used Twitter to help drive buzz around a new TV advert. They shared a 30 second clip of a car chase and then allowed the Twittersphere to vote for what happened next. The winning story was then aired during ‘The X Factor‘ the following week.
It was not until August 23, 2005 that the State Council promulgated rules that dealt specifically with direct sale operation- Administration of Direct Sales (entered into effect on 1 December 2005) and the Regulations for the Prohibition of chuanxiao (entered into effect on 1 November 2005). When direct selling is allowed, it will only be permitted under the most stringent requirements, in order to ensure the operations are not pyramid schemes, MLM, or fly-by-night operations.
Internet also helped content marketing become a mainstream form of marketing. Traditional media such as newspapers, magazines, radio and TV started to lose their power in the marketplace. Companies started to promote and sell their products digitally.[15]
Today, we’d like to tell you a little more about the MDPs helping businesses manage their advertising on Pinterest using our Ads API. These partners are helping brands get faster and better results across all their paid Pinterest campaigns.
While JetBlue uses their main @JetBlue Twitter account to handle customer service, LinkedIn actually uses a separate account called @LinkedInHelp. The folks at LinkedIn don’t use this account in the traditional sense, and its goals certainly don’t revolve around gaining new followers. Instead, the purpose of the account is to give LinkedIn users an easy way get their questions answered quickly through Twitter.

Success Metrics: With a total budget of $15,000 USD, McDonald’s Canada gained 9,503 new followers over the course of the campaign. The campaign also drew in 14,200 profile views and resulted in a 4% overall engagement rate, which includes retweets, replies, favorites and clicks. This engagement rate is quite high when one considers that advertising click-through rates are generally subzero percentages.
My best Linkedin marketing strategy involves the use of their platform as a place to share content. If you’re sharing business or professional content in any niche, LinkedIn is a great place to target.
