“Increasingly, the advertiser demand is moving to this so the market is deciding that this performs and works for them—it’s more scalable,” he said. “It’s a more efficient way for advertisers to spend their money with us.”
I have found the best way to get attention on LinkedIn is to join groups in your industry where your target audience or customers are actually engaging in discussion and participate in those discussions with them. When you become an active member of the group and provide valuable answers to other member’s questions. This can lead to to those members wanting to connect with you directly and the achievement of your ultimate goal on LinkedIn, whether it is to be hired or to get more people interested in your products or services.
If you want someone’s business, you have to give them value FIRST. Invest the time to learn something about your target (other than their title and industry) so that you can offer them something of value: a link to a couple articles that can help them solve a problem; a free, short white paper about a challenge in their industry and how your company can help or a connection to someone in your network who can help them. Basically, if you want my attention, explain – briefly – how you can make my life easier. Be helpful, not pushy.
Use hashtags to expand your reach. These can be campaign specific or general – all that’s important is that they are relevant. Make sure to also set up your main company hashtag (#yourbrandname), and use it sparingly across Instagram (Twitter is good too). This makes it easier for people to find content related to you as well as your main account.
Back to the Future is a movie with a cult-like fan base. When it was released almost 30 years ago, Nike created a responsive shoe – the self-lacing sneaker or Nike Mag – worn in the movie by Michael J Fox. In 2016 Nike, never slow to jump on a trend, released the 2016 Nike Mag. A limited-edition, only 89 were produced. The sneakers were put into an auction with proceeds going to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Nike followed a trend whilst demonstrating its social conscience.
Hey Lewis, I love the whole “sexy back” theme here. I have been making an effort lately to make my profile more sexy. Perfect timing to have found your post! Great information on your blog. I really enjoy your style of writing! You have a new reader 🙂
On March 6, 2012, Dollar Shave Club launched their online video campaign. In the first 48 hours of their video debuting on YouTube they had over 12,000 people signing up for the service. The video cost just $4500 to make and as of November 2015 has had more than 21 million views. The video was considered as one of the best viral marketing campaigns of 2012 and won “Best Out-of-Nowhere Video Campaign” at the 2012 AdAge Viral Video Awards.
If you haven’t heard the name Gary Vaynerchuk before, you’re in for a treat – he was one of the first “viral” hits on social media, and he has built an empire using it. His Twitter insights come from first-hand experience, trial and error, and lots of great gut instincts.
“We want to tell people about us in the most engaging way we can,” said Community Manager Helena Langdon told Audiense in an interview. “It’s our goal to make our pages a place on social media where people want to visit and enjoy seeing in their timelines, then people won’t mind when we try to sell them drinks every now and again.”
It’s this approach to Twitter that makes them stand out from the crowd — and it certainly works for their audience. Their head of digital and communities Joe McEwan says that people really connect with their brand because they talk like human beings, without jargon or “technical mumbo jumbo.”
Follow the 4-1-1 rule created by Tippingpoint Labs and Joe Pulizzi of the Content Marketing Institute: For every self-serving update, share one audience-centric update, and four pieces of relevant content written by others
People love to talk to businesses directly on Twitter. Be responsive to any questions, comments, and criticisms that come your way. To avoid long exchanges, switch to Direct Messages to resolve any complex issues. You can now include a deep link in a Tweet that displays a ‘Send a private message’ call-to-action button to enable customers to send you a Direct Message.
One tip I always share for small business owners is to join LinkedIn groups that are relevant to their target demographic. Not only is this a great way to “listen in” on what your audience is talking about, there may [also] be times for small business owners to interact or offer their advice. More importantly, you can message the members of groups you are in, even if you aren’t connected. LinkedIn InMail adds up quickly, so this is a great way to save money when building relationships with potential clients. — Lauren Covello, content marketing strategist, Ripen eCommerce

If you aren’t already following @marketingland and @sengineland, you can stop calling yourself a digital marketer. As a founder of these massive (more than half a million Twitter followers) sites, Sullivan can be found Tweeting his favorite articles, live-tweeting major media events like VidCon, and humorously bashing Google. If you somehow don’t love a good Google rant, Sullivan still provides massive value, only sharing what he finds important in media news. Something tells us, he’s got a knack for that type of thing.
Somebody Give John Henry the Jackhammer already! Or better yet: Get Kasparov and J. H. to sturdy that thing in a device automated by IBM’s one time chess champ Deep Blue. Then Garry Kasparov and John Henry can go have a drink on the beach of Metaphors’ that is ticky lit from Tesla’s AC current that flows from a Polynesian green power tower.

Link to your Company Page. Creating links to your Company Page is essential for boosting your ranking in search. An easy win here is to link to your Company Page from your website, blog, and other marketing materials. Another easy win is to make sure the LinkedIn profiles of employees and colleagues are up to date. When they add your company to their work experience, a link is created back to your Company Page.
With the constant fear of layoffs, I wanted to control my life. I had nutritional products that gave great results, so I started calling my family. I begged them to try the products and business… As you might guess, that didn’t work out. Next, I tried…
Beside profile optimization, my biggest LinkedIn marketing strategy is to blog on the Pulse platform. The posts I publish there may not reach thousands of readers. However, they always catch the attention of the right prospects. The great job or partnership offers that land in my inbox afterwards are proof of that.
It is one of the most powerful platforms for professional networking. Make sure to add a professional looking profile photo along with the incredible headline on your profile to make your page worth reading and talking about.
Clearly and separately show the fees you charge for Pinterest advertising and the fees we charge (both the absolute amount and by our billing metrics, like CPM or CPC), and don’t combine your fees with ours.
Especially if your company is B2B, be sure to have a company profile on LinkedIn, and encourage all employees to have personal profiles that link them to your company. Each person has talents and skills they contribute to your business that can be highlighted with your company’s keywords in each employee’s summary and experience areas. LinkedIn Recommendations can also increase your company’s visibility in the channel. Ask employees to join groups where they can share their insights and answer questions… and train them to always include a personalized note when reaching out to others, and best if that note offers your reason for connecting.
Don’t wait for a disaster on Twitter before reacting, use it just for selling your product, or jump in purely for customer service issues. Twitter can bring character to your brand, a personality. Used well, it’ll be your brand’s human voice.
Louis Vuitton relies heavily on brand ambassadors from fashion and entertainment. Whether it’s actor, Léa Seydoux, the face of the brand, or newsjacking red carpet events and photographing celebrities who’re wearing Louis Vuitton.
From prolific bloggers, to social media strategists, to revered marketing publications, there are a lot of distinct voices discussing the latest trends and relaying their unique perspectives about inbound marketing. “Network marketing” and “multi-level marketing” (MLM) have been described by author Dominique Xardel as being synonymous, with it being a type of direct selling. Some sources emphasize that multi-level marketing is merely one form of direct selling, rather than being direct selling. Other terms that are sometimes used to describe multi-level marketing include “word-of-mouth marketing”, “interactive distribution”, and “relationship marketing”. Critics have argued that the use of these and other different terms and “buzzwords” is an effort to distinguish multi-level marketing from illegal Ponzi schemes, chain letters, and consumer fraud scams.
There’s no question that sites such as Yelp and TripAdvisor have become crucial platforms for consumer marketers. What has been less understood is that having a strategy around customer reviews is also increasingly essential for B2B marketers. The experiences of Infer and Kimble in using G2 Crowd, a platform of verified user reviews, go a long way to…
I spend a lot of time using LinkedIn Advanced Search to find prospects or like-minded people in my area to connect with. Even in just the short time that I have been doing this I have been invited to speak at two events by these new connections. And that was after just connecting with 10 people. So, I am continuing this approach of selectively, rather than in bulk, approaching people that fit my business. If you are in the B2B arena, I highly recommend LinkedIn to expand your network!
Treat LinkedIn like any other form of marketing that you do, and get clued up on the latest trends. People don’t want to be interrupted, so try your best to be “discovered” on LinkedIn. Read up on Content Marketing and Inbound Marketing, and apply these strategies to this network. There are plenty of people acting like hard-sell 1980s sales reps on LinkedIn, so be wise and don’t become one of them. — Nikki Hammett, digital marketing manager, blur Group
