Thank you so much, Jamie, for this valuable information! My blog is currently in it’s infancy stage and with all the research I’ve done to date, your site has given me the most informative information to help me succeed. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise!
I read your entries about asset portfolio too, great work btw! Are you currently loving your turnkey purchases? Have been looking into turnkey purchases with intention to put long term tenants there, but since I live in UK now, it’s a little pain in the butt to fly back to the state. So my question is, did you literally just fly there once and see the place, then just hire someone to do it all? Any problems so far?
Also, I think allowing comments on your blog makes you approachable and builds a community. Plus, if you solely build your community on social media networks, what happens when they disappear? You never know, it could happen.
Hi, I’ve been wanting to write for a while. I write for myself, I have lots of notebooks of visions, visions and signs in dreams and really discovered how to know and love myself through creating intuitive art with mandalas. It is my passion. I found my passion in my 40’s and giving workshops now to help others learn about listening to their heart and learning about themselves and blocages through forms and colors. I could sell digitals of my creations, a coloring book etc….. I am an intuitive and know nothing about computers and when I try to learn about the technical stuff…I get stuck!!! I’m pretty good at researching, writing, emails but technical stuff get me stuck!! I’ve always dreamed of being my own boss and travel, I want a job where I can work and earn an income from wherever I am in the world. I need help to get started!! Your story inspires me. Thank you so much!
Yep its crazy that you can actually make a really good living just on blogging and making money online. I love that! I am using the promax theme on my site and I think it was $18 for the full version. Let me know how your facebook ads work after you do it.
Many bloggers create and sell their own digital products. Digital products are great because they don’t require inventory and can be distributed to quickly and easily. There’s no overhead and low risk. Examples of digital products bloggers create:
I think the most important question you should ask is – before doing anything else – who are these people signing up for my mailing list? What have they’ve accomplished so far and where they’re looking to go? If they’re giving you money by signing up for one of your courses, that goes double.
You can approach companies on your own to ask about doing paid reviews. There are also websites like PayPerPost and SponsoredReviews that can help to connect you with businesses who may be interested.
Great post. Very informative for people looking to set up a blog and begin to make money. The key is that it doesn’t happen overnight and that your blog should be just a tool in your business plan. Thanks Again for valuable content and not the same old garbage some people spew.
Ebooks are an obvious choice for creating digital products. They are relatively simple to write and produce. If you’ve been blogging for a while, then you can collect some of your old blog posts and turn them into chapters of a book.

Nanda! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I got lucky this month (august) and had a post go viral. Well it was viral in my opinion and because of that huge boost, I was able to surpass all my numbers from July. Ill be posting my August stats in a week or two. Will be exciting!
Whenever I see somebody’s traffic and income report, I feel very happy by seeing the opportunities bloggers have to earn money from online when it comes to implementing same strategies in my blog may not work for me.
Hi! This was hands down one of the most helpful posts I’ve ever read about how to make blogging a realistic career path. I love how honest and open you were in both suggesting the good but reminding me of the bad choices out there, some of which I know I would/have made. I found your blog after hanging my head from another post on yet another site saying to forget about blogging as your source of income. Completely ignoring that advice and seeking out some that matched my determination, I found yours and so glad I did! Thank you again for this awesome post – it’s officially made it into my favorites bar to come back to.
Developing a successful blog has a lot to do with building relationships. That can include relationships with sponsors, affiliate partners, or simply other bloggers who will direct traffic to your blog. Be sure some of your time is spent on forums and other blogs (or whatever works for you) to build these relationships and your blog.
As far as blogging, there are many bloggers that earn a blogging income doing the same thing and there are just fine.  Competition is good, and there are so many people to reach out to one blogger could never do it all.
On this page I want to walk you through the process of how to make money blogging. It’s perfect for those who already have a blog but if you don’t I recommend you check out our guide to starting a blog (it’s step 1).
Great question! I paid for my domain name and hosting up front in a 1 year package with Bluehost when I started my blog, which only cost me $55! Since I decided to continue blogging, I renewed with Bluehost for another 3 years!
Hey Sumalee! It doesn’t hurt to start early – just make sure you have some great content published first so readers who are coming from social media sites can see what you have to offer and will want to come back and read more 🙂 And if you want to monetize – go for it! It took me some time to build up – mostly because I had no clue what I was doing – so the earlier you can get started, the better!

As always, a fantastic post Jon. Have just shared on G+ with the comment that you are simply the best at what you do. I love your style, and the practical advice is invaluable. I was particularly interested in your downplay of using twitter, FB etc to hope to grow your blog, but what you said makes total sense. As someone who is building an author’s platform prior to publication, I’d been hesitant to sell products, but no more. Thanks so much for your inspiration.
The point is, most people are afraid to charge more than $200 for a class, believing that’s all people can afford, but it’s just not true. Every market has customers who are and willing to pay for a premium experience. Give them one.
Time and time again, I have to repeat many (if not all!) these points to them; some learn, some don’t. But the ones who learn will definitely see better results and probably become one of those bloggers who gets paid to do what they love!
While I don’t publish income reports, I do earn six figures a year from this blog. The year 2015 was my first six figure year, and I earned about $108,000 that year. It has continued to go up from there each year.

Selling physical products online can be hard to setup as you will need to deal with storage, shipping and even deal with things such as local taxes and distance selling laws. Of course a lot of this headache can be resolved by finding a company who will offer a white-label or drop shipping service leaving you to worry about getting traffic and updating the website.
Then, pitch high-traffic sites and try to get on as a regular, paid blogger. From there, if you’re writing well, other clients who need help from a professional blogger will begin to find you. If you can understand what they need to say and the audience they are trying to reach, you can grow your stable of blogging clients.
Hey can you help me? I am all new to this and is very interested in becoming a blogger. I mainly want to write about life in Hawai’i. I have been searching and watching videos all day. Im just stuck on where to start? and how to get things going? i really would like your help please
Great information and all in one place too! Nowadays I see people are getting very creative in ways to make some extra money from home. I must say, you certainly help to solve this problem very beautifully. Nice guide for making money.
Create something within your budget. Unless you’re running a company blog, you’re unlikely to be able to get a crowd of extras or expensive equipment. Brainstorm silly ideas that can be performed by you and your friends.
I’ve been through quite a lot with my days a blogger. I was making money, but it just wasn’t enough. You literally make pennies and dollars. That is not enough to support yourself. It wasn’t until I met Noah King. A mentor of mine who taught me how to make REAL MONEY online writing about what I love. I am now making $6000/month after a year of hard work and can do it all from the convenience of my home. Never give up or sell yourself short! Noah has his own website where he talks about how to achieve the same success he has. You can check him out here if you’re interested – http://www.deservingwriter.com/
