4. Last year your team contacted me and asked if I was intrerested in ghostwriting for one of your clients. I accepted and got my first paid client. In the first month, that assignment paid for your guestblogging course. Wish to be a paid writer? Check.
When an up-and-coming band auditions to be an opening act, do you think the more famous band cares where they have played? Not really. All they care about is the strength of the audition. If the up-and-coming band is good, they get the gig. If they suck, it doesn’t matter where they played or how good everyone else says they are, they get a polite no.
We recommend using the free Amazon Product in a Post Plugin to easily add Amazon products to your blog posts or pages. Or, you could use the premium WooCommerce Amazon Affiliates plugin to create an Amazon Affiliate store using WooCommerce.
Once established, your travel blog itself may earn $3,000 – $5,000 / month, but if you’ve broadened your horizons and started working on other income streams like freelance writing, content creation, social media management and consulting services, you can double or triple this figure.
I have been meaning to tell you thanks for including me! I need to get back to publishing these reports, I have been on a blogging sabbatical and have not published anything for a while now so need to get back to it!
Hello Jon, Wow now this article is right on cue, All 20 lesson’s Rock! I got so much out of this one, oh yeh 2 pages of notes HEHE Yes I do take notes, I can ‘t remember all of these goodies after I leave. I think it is a great idea, why not they just may come in handy right.
Is there a hosting service where you can actually pay BY THE MONTH? I get that you have a money back guarantee, but that’s still a lot of money for me to shell out for something that I’m just starting out. If you are looking to blog to hopefully help generate income, then it seems natural to me for a host to let someone start out slowly.
Wow this is such a good idea for a post. I have been looking at many of these sites individually but now that this is bookmarked I will be checking it every month. My sites are making me a few hundred a month depending on the time I have to devote but it’s motivating to see others having success.
Thanks for this informative blog post! Love it! I am about to start blogging on my business website and this is some great advice. Got to know you through Marie Forleo’s B-School, who recommended you.
I’ve been through quite a lot with my days a blogger. I was making money, but it just wasn’t enough. You literally make pennies and dollars. That is not enough to support yourself. It wasn’t until I met Noah King. A mentor of mine who taught me how to make REAL MONEY online writing about what I love. I am now making $6000/month after a year of hard work and can do it all from the convenience of my home. Never give up or sell yourself short! Noah has his own website where he talks about how to achieve the same success he has. You can check him out here if you’re interested – http://www.deservingwriter.com/
With paid methods, you have the opportunity to pay for traffic and clicks right away. And if you do well in targeting your audience on the right channels you can easily build your audience with advertising to supplement your organic efforts.
Wonderful post. there were so many ideas that I got from you and now I can’t wait to update my comment blog posts. Very well done and thank you so much for sharing such n important post. I also appreciated all the comments you generated from some very experienced bloggers.
I absolutely loved this post. Lesson #13: Promote The Crap Out of Your Content Now this is one thing that I know gets results. Sites like Kingged for instance getter done.. I did land here today Via this site where I also commented and kingged this post..
For example, the entertainment blogger you mentioned. That’s a completely different style of blogging, and it operates by entirely different rules. Usually, the only way to monetize those blogs is advertising, and as a consequence, those bloggers almost never make much money.
Selling physical products online can be hard to setup as you will need to deal with storage, shipping and even deal with things such as local taxes and distance selling laws. Of course a lot of this headache can be resolved by finding a company who will offer a white-label or drop shipping service leaving you to worry about getting traffic and updating the website.
I spent about 2 months just reading blogs, learning things I felt I needed before I started my blog, but I’m a little compulsive haha, I could of started sooner but I wanted to be ready. For you, I say do some basic learning of blogging and WordPress then just get to work.
If you can’t find any popular blogs related to your topic, you probably went too niche. People interested in a topic will often visit several related blogs, and each blogger can link to the other to direct more traffic to each site.
We were early movers on this trend. Matt and I recorded 44 videos and launched a money course in June, but the course was so popular that we closed registration less than 60 days after launching to rebuild for Version 2.0. It was amazing to get so many students from around the world to go through the course and provide feedback. Note to self: Don’t launch a course when you are traveling to Europe the next week (that added a lot of unnecessary stress)! While we both made quite a bit of money in the process, the learning was even more valuable. New courses for 2018 are already in development.
I love that you shared to us your income report and the income you’ve earned when u were starting. I’ve read a lot of this kind of posts and most of them fronts how much money (like thousands) they made the first time and what made yours special is because it made me feel not so pressured and more hopeful because yours didn’t reach hundred bucks right away. I don’t posts seems more relatable and achievable. So thank u so much.
I have a lot of great ideas, but most of them are just thoughts and theories, and it seems that no one would want to read about, even pay for, ideas in which I am not a complete expert on. My greatest talent, perhaps, is being a prolific writer. Otherwise, I’m more of a Cliff Craven I know a lot about some things, and some about a lot of things. How does THIS make MONEY??

A paid event calendar is a good monetization method for local or industry-specific websites. You might choose to advertise events in your local city, conferences in a certain industry, or even webinars or live streaming events.
Thank you SO MUCH for this helpful post. We are just starting out on our first travel blog. I truly believe in it as a business, and I appreciate your words of wisdom and encouragement! I think they are especially helpful in the early years. Thanks again!
Honestly speaking, I haven’t really started thinking of earning money from my blog as that wasn’t the aim when I started it, but your post surely motivated me to think in that direction for a change. I guess you need to make a start somewhere, and if you want to do that, you need to lessen down or cut-off a lot of other things you do too.
Yes I’ve tried surveys and failed in fact I’ve still yet to find someone who had make money taking survey, but I agree with creating a product or service even if you are not experience marketer you can make something
Yeah I am very familiar with pinch of yum and used to have them on here but to be honest, I got tired of calculating their net profit each month. For some reason, they list all their income and expenses but dont calculate the net and they have a lot of items for both. It’s really just me being lazy!! 😐
Means the visitor is able to focus on reading the content and clicking on the links in the blog post which could potentially make you money. I make my money in affiliate marketing. Yet I have 1 adsense block on only a few blog pages to use wasted space.
Just be aware that affiliate marketing with the wrong company can damage your brand. For instance, I started my blog w/ Blue Host because of Pat Flynn’s recommendation – which I am sure he was paid for. I am now on day 5 of my site, and e-mail being down, with NO estimate from Blue Host as to when it will be back up. As a consequence, I wouldn’t buy a thing he suggested or endorsed, because of my experience with someone he put his seal of approval on. Blue Host has a HORRIBLE reputation among the community, and I even wonder if anyone would “recommend” them unless they were being paid.
