Each of these places that you reader might already be gathering has opportunities to develop a presence whether that be by leaving good comments, offering to create guest posts or simply by being helpful and answering questions.
This is complete motivation for me to keep on blogging and not giving up. Thanks for taking the time to put this list together. I know it takes some time searching Google for these folks updated income reports.
Pat Flynn, for example, makes over $100,000 a month in affiliate commissions. Here at Smart Blogger, we mostly promote our own products, but we also make a tidy sum promoting LeadPages and SiteGround:

While sitting back and making money on affiliate or display ads is nice, your revenue slows down if you aren’t consistently creating new content and getting more traffic. This is why it’s essential to think about a blog not as a blog, but as a platform. Because on a platform, you can make money in a ton of different ways, as you’ll see below. To learn more about turning a blog into a platform, check out this post on how to make money blogging.
WordPress was built to be a blogging platform and will always be a blogging platform. It does it well and perfect for blog only sites. However, once you start incorporating other functionality into your site such as membership based concepts, e-commerce, basically more complex website structure and content, my choice would go to Joomla! hands down. I’ve got over 10 years of Joomla experience and 7 for WP, so it’s a bit easier for me to make that statement.
No matter which group you’re in, making money with a blog – whether it’s a hobby blog or a business blog –is possible. It’s not a get rich quick ordeal, but if you do it right, you could make enough to support your family and more. Let’s dive in and see how you can make a profit with your blog.
This guide to making a money making blog is completely free. I don’t want anything for it – just for you to take action and do it, so many of my friends would love to do it but give up too soon, often when their big breakthrough might only be a few weeks away.
Brainstorm keywords for each blog post. Keywords are the important words that relate to the topic of your blog, and specifically the new subtopic you cover each time you post. Choosing relevant keywords that people search for frequently will increase the visibility of your blog, attract more readers, and show them advertisements they are likely to click.
I have been meaning to tell you thanks for including me! I need to get back to publishing these reports, I have been on a blogging sabbatical and have not published anything for a while now so need to get back to it!
Wonderful post. there were so many ideas that I got from you and now I can’t wait to update my comment blog posts. Very well done and thank you so much for sharing such n important post. I also appreciated all the comments you generated from some very experienced bloggers.
There are so many options for affiliate links, but I feel like I am just skimming the service and there is so much I don’t know. I started by looking into products and services I use and then find out if they have an affiliate program I could join! Some of the companies offer programs in their own; some are part of a big network. I think I am going to break this down in a blog post this week. Thank you for asking!
In total, more than 1.5 million people visited the website from around the world and of the 10 blog goals that I set for 2017  I was able to accomplish 7 of them, including making $401,681 in blog income from the platform. I also rejected a seven-figure offer to buy the website in July because I’m still just getting started with my personal mission, which is to teach as many people as possible how to make more money and reach financial independence. My goal has never been to sell the blog for millions of dollars.
Granted, you won’t make that kind of money when your blog is small, but when you’re just starting to learn how to make money blogging, affiliate marketing is still a good way to start for several reasons:
Michael’s numbers are solid. Another way that you can multiply the revenue per visitor or revenue per pageview is to work with multiple advertising partners in what pro-bloggers call an “ad stack”. If you are only using Adsense for display, you can start by adding just one more partner with a higher CPM.
Research topics using some of the research tools such as Google Trends, Google Keyword Search Tool, Wordtracker and see if other people are searching for that topic too. If there are copiously, competitions could be hard.
People who start to blog always thing of making money which tends them toward failure. In my opinion bloggers should choose the topic which interests them. They don’t think about making money. It’s about knowledge, try to learn more and don’t think about money stuff. There are many top blog topics to make money online but you can get success only with the topic you like to write on. Try to choose your topic for the blog. Making money is very easy, don’t think about it much.
Yes, this isn’t that moonshot way of earning that so many are dreaming of, where you monetize your own blog and make six figures on autopilot. This is an everyday, working-class sort of way to earn from blogging. Simply helping publications and companies communicate powerfully with their readers and customers.
It’s not because they were stupid. They didn’t get one of my emails and say, “Oh, look honey, this is a fabulous opportunity to throw our money away. Let’s give this good-looking fellow $10,000 just for the hell of it.”
As always, a fantastic post Jon. Have just shared on G+ with the comment that you are simply the best at what you do. I love your style, and the practical advice is invaluable. I was particularly interested in your downplay of using twitter, FB etc to hope to grow your blog, but what you said makes total sense. As someone who is building an author’s platform prior to publication, I’d been hesitant to sell products, but no more. Thanks so much for your inspiration.
So counter-intuitive, I thought that I was going to monetize my blog with ads as well. Literally changed the direction of my blog for the better. Thank you so much for saving me the time. Going to read this again and again in the future and will share it now.
My blog is a blog for blogging. To express my thoughts, and maybe make money as a side effect. There is a huge difference between those situations, and the differences lead the use of ads, guest posts and so on.
It all depends where the most people are that will be interested in your site / niche / product. I target ads in countries such as UK, USA, Canada and India, only because there are vast numbers of English speakers there with enough disposable income to want to buy through my sites.
There’s loads of up-sell opportunities from offering training courses and it can easily be scaled if it is mainly self-teaching materials. Not only this, but you can start gathering email addresses from your trainees and start marketing new courses to them.
The truth is you are better to put out 5 – 10 smaller products around one big product that way if your goal is to make $5,000 a month, it will be easier to make $500 to $1,000 per product then it would be to make the full $5,000 from one product.
Above we mentioned the difference between CPC and CPM ads, where you are paid per click or per thousand views. While you could use one of those models for selling banner ads, most bloggers charge a flat rate instead. Charging a flat rate is easier than keeping track of views or clicks.

Did you do your 301 redirects so that googs knows it’s really the same domain, just with a different name? I also changed domains—twice. yuck. Nobody was reading me back then, but it’s not fun while you’re going through just the same.
Google Blogger supports advertising through Google AdSense, PayPal links, and limited affiliate links. If you use excessive affiliate links, fail to add relevant content when including affiliate links, or get paid to increase someone’s search engine ranking, Google will move your blog much lower in the search rankings, greatly decreasing your audience traffic.[11][12]
Yep its crazy that you can actually make a really good living just on blogging and making money online. I love that! I am using the promax theme on my site and I think it was $18 for the full version. Let me know how your facebook ads work after you do it.
I have a blog about camera bags that makes me about $70 per month, and I’ve been tweaking it since January and am seeing gains over 2015’s income. Nice to see some lower tiered bloggers who post their reports, too. It’s always intimidating to see the big numbers and big players. So I often go back into their archives to see what it was like when they started. Not everyone has the gumption to post their early earnings – because it is embarrassing on some levels… but the fact is, everyone starts somewhere! I post my reports on my blogging niche website here: http://www.earnmoneyblogging.net/category/earnings-report/ Hoping to get up to $1000 by this time next year!
Wix is a hosted platform to build websites. It offers an easy way for small businesses to build a website using drag and drop tools. You can also add a blog to your website by adding the Wix Blog app.
Simple, Search engines, at least the first scan of a page do not scan all the content. By showing the pages latest comments first, it make those comments more likely to be read by the search engine’s spiders. This will register as always fresh content and fresh engagement – which is good for SEO.
During that time, I started four different blogs, working on them at night and on the weekends. The first three failed. Despite investing hundreds of hours into each one, I made too many mistakes, and I eventually had to shut the blogs down. I didn’t earn a penny from them.
That’s just amazing. I never thought there can be a number of options to earn from blogs. I always thought serving ads is the only way. Thanks a lot for changing my mind set. Keep sharing informative articles.
