This is never easy or guaranteed, but it can also be fun to try even if you fail. if you manage to promote your blog through a video or image exciting or funny enough for people to share, and you’re lucky enough to stand above the crowd of people trying to do the same thing, you’ll have a huge influx of readers.
WordPress also have a variety of plugins that make it easy to put social sharing buttons on your blog posts. Some people like to limit the number of plugins they use on their WordPress blog because it can slow the blog down and it can open your blog up to more attacks, butt a social sharing plugin is one that should have high priority if you do choose to use plugins.
I’m a blogger/entrepreneur specialising in blogging to women 35 – 65 who are AB demographicI’ve been researching this topic for the past month. I’m making about $500 a week from my 4 month old blog for paid placements, but would like to make more through affiliate marketing but am still building my content and traffic.
A blog is not a blog without content so once you’ve set your blog up you need to focus your attention upon creating useful content. What you choose to create will depend a little on the topic that you choose to write about (on that note, most successful bloggers have some focus to their blogging whether that be a niche or a demographic that they write for).

Branching out also helps you to grow your blog in general, because it increases your presence around the web (and the world). So, what do I mean by “branching out”? Here are some examples of how you could use your blog to gain income and create more followers:
Write down every topic that you are knowledgeable or passionate about. You’ll have a much easier time making money from a blog you are interested in, rather than trying to write content you don’t like because you think it will make money. Some examples are hobbies that you enjoy, your career, or some specific and miscellaneous knowledge that you have.

WPBeginner is a very big and popular site which focuses on WordPress more than anything, so this article is on the bias. I would also hope that the author actually used each platform to get a fair accessment too. However, I will give my two cents into this WP vs all others….

There’s more to it than that but this is another great place to start with monetising your blog as affiliate programs are easy to sign up for and if you have an engaged audience you will find they follow the recommendations that you make on products.
As long as you add the copyright to the bottom of your blog (like in the footer) you should be good to go for protecting your content on your site. With that being said, I know some businesses and bloggers do have tiny watermarks on their logos to protect them, so it’s up to you!
Hey Sara! Since publishing this post I am now on (I think) my 13th blog income report? Today I am probably 50/50 in terms of income – like 50% from freelancing and 50% from affiliate income, courses and my book and ads! For affiliate income, try to find products that you use personally and see if they have a program. I use the Shareasale platform (that’s like the middle man that links you to brands) as well as focus on what my readers tent to want, which are products that save them money or make them money. Then I seek out products that fit them best, like Ibotta, Ebates, etc. You could always poll your audience in a newsletter or blog post and ask THEM what they want. Then figure out what product you can help to solve their problem, educate them about the product or course, etc. while monetizing at the same time. That seems like a fair trade off!
One of the most frustrating things for me since I began blogging was getting more engagement on my blog posts. When I first started I went from nothing to around 200,000 on Alexa in about 3 to 6 months. After that, I had a long hiatus of no content and flew back up past 10,000,000.

One thing that really struck me in this post is the reverse sales funnel. I’ve always thought to start off cheaper then gradually charge more money. To be honest, this reverse funnel sounds scary, but since you said you had great results, I should probably give it a try.
1. Get a squeeze page. 2. Drive traffic through ads 3.Get an autoresponder. 4. Collect leads. 5. Market to the leads. What I don’t see mentioned is “choosing your niche” the niche that you are passionate about.
I know enough about SEO to probably be wrong about a lot of it. I could probably write a series of articles on SEO tactics I have learned over the years but as I am not an expert I’ll point you in the right direction to some good articles on the subject.
Start selling from day one…I’ve always thought you had to build a sizable audience and then drop that knowledge that they’ll pay for. But doing it for the motivation to make money FORCES you to create a damn good product(s). Makes complete sense, Jon. Thanks!!!
Narrow down the topics by reflecting on profitability and other goals. In order to make money, you’ll need to find a niche that other people haven’t filled already, but is still popular enough to attract a significant number of visitors. Also consider other factors, such as money you’d have to spend if your blog focused on reviewing products that you in turn would have to buy.

Some bloggers publish their own income reports, but again, it’s difficult to draw general conclusions since each blogger’s circumstance is unique. Many bloggers have stopped sharing income reports, such as Pinch of Yum, but one of the more well-known bloggers who continues to share his is Pat Flynn from Smart Passive Income.
Of course this is just my own personal interest, you may be a keen amateur photographer, a budding cake decorator or want to write about travelling across Australia. So, carry out your research online by looking at different websites in Google and even on social media sites such as Facebook or Pinterest to see where the money making niches are, where the people are and if these niches are growing or shrinking. It will save a lot of heartache later down the line.
Write original content. Come up with your own topics for each blog post, and write the post yourself instead of tweaking or copy-pasting someone else’s work. Readers will come to your blog if they enjoy your writing style and your choice of topic, not to read rehashed content they can easily find elsewhere.
Great article here. I’ve been running my healthcare blog for a few months and have just recently started to spend more time on it (learning wordpress, marketing strategies, etc). I’m noway near earning anything from it yet but with effort and time, hope to establish myself as a leading pharmacy blogger.
Same thing with guest blogging. If your post is good, you’re in. The editor won’t even look at your blog, most likely. Or if they do, it’ll be a cursory glance just to make sure you don’t have anything offensive on your site.
As for the income reports I took a break from doing it because life got really busy and I wasnt seeing any big progress. Im still averaging anywhere from $250 to $600 per month just from the blog. Ill probably start doing the income reports again really soon.

Ha, guess we are doing something seriously wrong 😉 The total ad income for May was about €3, considering that the annual fees to keep the website running are €6/month, the website/blog is more of an expense than a income stream at this time. But we are having fun, which is worth something as well.
You can manage a WordPress blog from mobile browser. However, this will be difficult as many features on your screen would appear different or may not be visible. Plugins will be unable to adjust their settings page to your device size. In short, it is not practical in the long run.
One example is this: since our blog is a sub-domain for my wife and I’s boutique beach resort, nobody seems to want to touch me as a guest blogger. I get the same response every time “you’re commercial and so you’ve got to pay for a sponsored post”…and while yes, we are commercial and not a private blog per se, we’re a tiny family run business and 95% of private blogs are striving to be commercial, whether they’re associated with a company name or not.
Again great post man, another little top for people who’re thinking of paid advertising. Always make sure your ad is between posts or in article itself. Do not ever buy top or side ads, people are blind to them. Nobody clicks them.

with so many businesses now running blogs their is a huge demand for competent writers and bloggers. By promoting your services on your blog rather than on a freelancing network such as Upwork you can demand a higher rate. You could also offer similar services such as proofreading and editing too.
Though most of my income is generated by helping others 1) get found online and then 2) engage through video, I do use my blog to attract people to me so they can see the services and products I offer.
