I have a blog about camera bags that makes me about $70 per month, and I’ve been tweaking it since January and am seeing gains over 2015’s income. Nice to see some lower tiered bloggers who post their reports, too. It’s always intimidating to see the big numbers and big players. So I often go back into their archives to see what it was like when they started. Not everyone has the gumption to post their early earnings – because it is embarrassing on some levels… but the fact is, everyone starts somewhere! I post my reports on my blogging niche website here: http://www.earnmoneyblogging.net/category/earnings-report/ Hoping to get up to $1000 by this time next year!
Hey Matt, that first $100 check from Google AdSense is amazing though! Look into Media.net too – it’s similar to AdSense, and I didn’t find out about it until months after. But I made more with Media than Adsense – no reason you can’t have both company ads on your site 🙂
I’ve found a few that you might not have seen yet, so I’d love to help you out any way I can. You can check out my Complete List of Bloggers Who Share Income Reports at http://onlineincomereport.com/complete-list/
The other type of product some bloggers sell is physical products. This is most common when the blogger has a business but sometimes bloggers also create merchandise (T-shirts etc) or other physical products to sell.
Also i would like to suggest to add up POSTS WRITTEN THIS MONTH section in your income reports details. This could let people like us to go through them at the end of the month in case if we aren’t able to read them earlier.
Great post Jamie! There’s so many posts about how to make a money blog and your one is by far the best. One thing I want to comment on is initially all people who start a new blog don’t know where to start. They just sign up to different affiliate money making programs thinking that they will become rich quickly. You and me both know that this is not the case. What they don’t know and need to understand is that blogging needs hard work and dedication. To keep on going when after 6 months they are still earning zero. Only after that one can think to be successful online.

As usual a top knotch post full of excellent advice, very easy to understand and follow. Just studying your posts is an object lesson in how these things are done. I, like many aspiring bloggers, am very familiar with the glazed look that passes over people’s faces when I attempt to explain what my plans are! I think the primary problem is that we have been brought up to do business in a particular way. You make something therefore you get paid for it. Most business people feel there is something inherently wrong about a system where you provide huge amounts of valuable content free of charge and without obligation. The peception is that the model cannot be susstainable.
Update frequently. None of the techniques for Monetizing Your Blog will matter if you let your blog stagnate. Try to post at least once a week, on a subject you haven’t covered before that fits your blog’s main topic.
Selling private ads can come in the form of banners, buttons, or links. You can even make money writing sponsored posts where you write about or give a review of an advertiser’s product or service. Another option is to write an underwritten post or series, which is where you can write about any topic, but the advertiser pays for a “Brought to you by” mention in the content.
I think that is so awesome for you! Its hard to actually start doing what you love and to actually make money from it is such a great bonus!!I just started blogging, I joined twitter (which I never thought I would) & finally started a blog on wordpress. Good luck to you and your new adventure
Thanks Gustavo. Glad it’s been of great help to you. You’re right, there’s a lot of shit out there that is misleading and ultimately want to take money from newbies in exchange for misinformation and crap services/products. All the best.
1) Your niche selection is extremely important. You probably won’t be able to make money helping people watch better quality TV. But you could help them lose weight or be more productive and make a bunch of money in the process. Making money is not limited to helping other people make money.
Twitter – has a variety of ad options like Facebook and other social networks. The best one for your blog marketing efforts is the Promoted Tweets option. You can expect about $0.50 to $0.75 estimated cost per engagement, which is Twitter’s way of telling you what your cost per click is.
As an affiliate marketer, you promote someone else’s product or service to your readers. You link to that product or service using your unique affiliate link. When, someone clicks through that link and makes a purchase (or completes a desired action set by the company), you earn a commission. There are thousands of affiliate programs to join. Some I participate in:
There is plenty to learn and go through in blogging for money that newbie should be aware of and read first. I agree, this could also inspire anyone to do better with his blog, but caution, caution and caution.
Wow! I love that even though you didn’t make a lot of money, you still wrote about what you did make. It gives us newbie bloggers hope, especially after seeing the updates you’ve added about your more recent incomes. Thanks for the bit of reassurance.
Hey! I really want to thank you for providing these tips for someone who is just starting out. Sometime its difficult to know where to start. With your post, it has given me a clear focus and motivation. Thanks so much Jamie
Above we mentioned the difference between CPC and CPM ads, where you are paid per click or per thousand views. While you could use one of those models for selling banner ads, most bloggers charge a flat rate instead. Charging a flat rate is easier than keeping track of views or clicks.
Market your blog first. These techniques for making money are not useful for a blog that doesn’t yet have an audience. Read about Marketing and Advertising first, even if you don’t plan on including ads. At minimum, you should be posting links to your blog on social media website to attract readership.
Your income reports are inspirational! I have been blogging off and on for 2 years, and my income is sporadic. I love what you are doing, and am so happy that you are making a success out of blogging!
I have been blogging as my main source of income for the past 8 years. It has been a long hard slog ( making money online is hard ) but in the past few years I have managed to launch successful blog after successful blog which have meant that I can quit the 9-5 and spend more time with my family & start building a lifestyle I am happy with.
2) You should have an active blog, but you should put a lot more effort into guest blogging in the beginning and when you hit 10.000 subscribers shift the focus to your own blog. Because then the effect of social media, SEO, etc on your site outweighs the traffic you’ll get from guest blogging.
Congrats on making some money! I’m terrible about affiliate stuff, so the money I make is often from cash back site referrals. (Mr. Rebates gives you an amount equal to 20% of your referrals’ rebates. No time limit.)
I’m impressed about the depth of insight you seem to command in this area. It is true there are lots of sites that means opposite of what they say or write but yours is different. Keep on doing a good job out there.
We believe that WordPress outperforms all other platforms. It is powerful, easy to use, affordable, and the most flexible of all available blogging platforms. Here are all the reasons why you should use WordPress.
Write original content. Come up with your own topics for each blog post, and write the post yourself instead of tweaking or copy-pasting someone else’s work. Readers will come to your blog if they enjoy your writing style and your choice of topic, not to read rehashed content they can easily find elsewhere.
Great article. I recently came back into blogging. I hadn’t realized how much I had learnt from my first attempt. Now with the new blog I started about a month ago, I am seeing an increase of traffic everyday which is quite surprising and very exciting. So I have been reading all over how to monetize a blog. Your article is excellent and in-depth. Thank you for sharing I will definitely be using some your advice. Blessings.
Post your article links on social media and blog directories. Get traffic to your site with frequent updates on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites. Find blogging communities that match your readership and post links to relevant articles on their comments or forums. This helps in getting traffic to your site as well as raising your search engine rankings.
